Holidays > Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur Store

Rosh Hashanah- literally “The head of the Year”-is the Jewish New Year. It is the first two days of the month of Tishrei and is the anniversary of the creation of man and woman (Adam and Eve). No work is done on Rosh Hashanah. It is on this day that the Jewish people proclaim God as their King. In synagogue, the Shofar (Ram’s horn) is sounded 100 times, which represents the trumpet blast of a people's coronation of their king.
